Journal [manuscript]. 1845-1846.

A copy of a transcript of the journal written by Mary B. Yeoland on her voyage with her parents from Launceston, Tasmania to the West Indies. The voyage begins on 19 September 1845 on the schooner, "Tenessarim". At Mauritius (Indian Ocean) they board the "Sea Gull" and sail to Cape Town. There they board the "Manchester" and sail to Demerara, arriving on 7 February 1846. Mary Yeoland gives a detailed description of the courses the ships were travelling, the weather, the activities of the passengers, and first impressions of the places visited along the journey.
